Bread for the World

Bread for the World is a nationwide movement that seeks justice for the world's hungry people through activism, volunteerism and networking.

Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS) Club

The MLS Club familiarizes students with the medical and clinical laboratory science profession and increases awareness through meetings, tours, workshops, fundraisers and social events.

Public Health and Health Education Student Advisory Committee (PHHE SAC)

PHHE SAC represents the public health and health education student body by addressing and resolving issues or concerns with faculty and administration directly. They also nominate candidates for the Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching and Instruction Awards.

Student Dietetic Association (SDA)

The SDA is a community-based, nonprofit organization run by students studying nutrition, dietetics and hospitality management who are dedicated to educating the community about health and nutrition.

Student Health Organization (SHO)

The SHO is a student organization focusing on health promotion, giving back to the DeKalb community and supporting the NIU community. They participate in fundraisers, volunteering, wellness fairs and more. They also sponsor guest speakers to help students with professional development. SHO is open to students in all majors.

School of Health Studies Advisory Committee (SHS SAC)

The School of Health Studies Student Advisory Committee is made up of undergraduates and graduates from medical laboratory sciences, nutrition, dietetics and wellness and public health. These students advise administration and faculty on matters of concern and importance to students in the School of Health Studies. In addition, the SHS/SAC:

  • Advises student representative to the College of Health and Human Sciences SAC
  • Appoints student members to the appropriate faculty committees
  • Appoints members to the Grade Review Panel
  • Assists in planning for special events in the School of Health Studies
  • Assists in increasing the communication between student organizations in the SHS
  • Enhances professional development for students in SHS

National Honor Societies

Alpha Zeta Chapter of Delta Omega

Delta Omega is an honorary society for public health graduate students. They recognize hard-working students and encourage a commitment to public health.
