About the School of Health Studies

Welcome to the School of Health Studies. As an organizational part of the College of Health and Human Sciences, we are a diverse unit with accredited programs in medical laboratory sciences, nutrition and dietetics and public health. Both undergraduate and graduate students benefit from the excellent long-standing academic programs offered in this school.

As part of each program’s curricula, students have wonderful opportunities to participate in clinical experiences. Additionally, students can engage in faculty research, outreach activities such as summer camps or study abroad. We are devoted to student academic success and encourage students to reach out to their academic advisors and instructors to become involved in extra curricular activities. Faculty in our school serve as advisors for multiple university affiliated student associations.

If you are new to NIU and the college, welcome! Please take a few minutes to look at our wonderful educational and career options. The School of Health Studies is new, but our programs are built on a solid foundation of excellence in teaching and learning, scholarship and community engagement.
