Doctor of Audiology
Do you have a passion for helping people and an eye for technological advances? Consider becoming an audiologist -- here’s a need for people like you. The demand for audiologists is growing rapidly; employment is expected to increase by 29 percent in the coming years according the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The NIU Doctor of Audiology degree program prepares you to work as an audiologist in this rapidly growing field. You can work with clients of all ages and backgrounds in countless work settings. Depending on your strengths and interests, we’re all here to help you shape your career. Through mentorship with our Alumni Advisory Board Au.D. students gain valuable insight, advice and guidance. Board members include audiologists working in the area as well as nationally, heading hospital hearing programs and international clinics.
Your contribution to the field of audiology begins before you graduate. You’ll complete a capstone research project where you’ll work with faculty to learn the techniques and methods needed to research and collect data to advance ongoing efforts and clinical protocols in audiology
Once you’ve graduated, you’ll be prepared and eligible for the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association national certification.
The NIU Doctor of Audiology program utilizes the Communication Science and Disorders Centralized Application Service (CSDCAS) to manage the application process. Please Note: In addition to applying through CSDCAS, applicants must also apply to the NIU Graduate School. This part of the application process is separate from CSDCAS so individuals will be required to pay an NIU specific application fee in addition to any fees imposed by CSDCAS.
