Minor in Nutrition, Health and Wellness (NHW)nhw

Many health-related majors such as nursing, public health or biology may find the NHW minor helpful for a future career. FCNS majors are not eligible to declare this minor. All students minoring in NHW must meet the State of Illinois Sanitation Certification eligibility requirement and submit a completed permit form before taking FCNS 200A.

    • OR BIOS 109 - Human Biology (3)
    • OR BIOS 311 - Functional Human Anatomy (4)
    • OR BIOS 357 - Human Anatomy and Physiology (5)
  • CHEM 110 - Chemistry (3)
    AND CHEM 111 - Chemistry Laboratory (1)
    • OR CHEM 210 - General Chemistry I (3)
      AND CHEM 212 - General Chemistry Laboratory I (1)

And three of the following, including at least one upper-division course (8-9)

  • FCNS 306 - Nutrition in Relation to Health and Exercise (2-3)
    AND KNPE 306 - Sports Nutrition (1) if earning 2 credit hours in FCNS 306
  • FCNS 308 - Current Problems and Trends in Nutrition and Foods (3)
  • FCNS 4051 - Child Health and Nutrition (3)
  • FCNS 406 - Global Food and Nutrition Issues (3)
  • FCNS 424 - Cultural and National Food Patterns (3)
  • PHHE 295 - Introduction to Public Health (3)
