Physical Therapy

Our physical therapy programs are designed to prepare you to meet society’s need for quality physical therapy services. You will learn from knowledgeable and supportive faculty, take comprehensive courses, and gain hands-on experience to help you achieve your professional physical therapy career goals.

If you are beginning your path toward becoming a physical therapist, our pre-physical therapy emphasis within our health sciences major is the place to start. You will gain the foundation needed to prepare for a Doctor of Physical Therapy program and develop the knowledge and skills necessary to become a competent entry-level physical therapist.

Our fully accredited Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program prepares you to deliver optimal patient care. You will receive hands-on training from experienced faculty in the NIU Physical Therapy Clinic, where you will examine and treat patients with a variety of conditions from the NIU and local communities. You will also be prepared to take and pass the National Physical Therapy Exam. Our NIU DPT program alumni boast a 100% employment rate after passing the exam.
